Essential Things To Note Whenever You Make A Motor Insurance Coverage Claim

ByTodd Seah

With the purchase of a motor insurance policy, you will be guarded on a financial basis from big financial loss. This takes place when the insurance carrier will pay for your losses. Whatever happens, you could make an insurance claim to cancel out the car accident-related bills.

Before making a claim, it is preferable that you record the other party's particulars. For those who have a camera phone around, taking photos will save you time and effort in the course of incident reporting. Some individuals might get offended whenever you try to take some photographs. What you can do is let them know the insurance officer wants consumers to do this. Or let them know it is just to help with making the insurance claims reporting easier without more items to illustrate. You can even mail them the photographs you took.

There are prominent points you must be aware. To start, you should note where the cars are just following the incident. You have to have a bit of backdrop into the electronic camera as well. Next, take images of the damages on your automobile and also the other person's vehicle. Lastly, if perhaps there exist skid marks left on the highway, or if any public properties are broken, get hold of those shots as well.

The insurance company wants every piece of information. If you are clearly at fault or not depends on the information given. But many incidents aren't obvious. Consequently the officer will also have to wait for the document from the other driver involved.

Therefore, the insurer may want to fight the case on your behalf by just talking to the other driver's insurance organisation. Most of the time, things can be fixed amicably. And a lot of customers are happy with regards to their insurer's guidance. Occasionally, the insurer has to appoint an attorney to deal with your case. Therefore, the claims process can be a tiresome task involving a number of proceedings.

If you can, stay clear of such scenarios. The reason being when legal professionals take part in automobile accident cases, the compensation claim becomes greater. So when this occurs, it will not be good for an individual's insurance files. With greater claims, you'll be necessary to pay much more in monthly premiums for the next three years ahead.

If you wish the other car owner will cover all your losses and attorney's fees, all your hope might not become reality. Almost always, you will have to foot portion of the bill as well as the loss. You have more expenses to cover when your attorney begins invoicing you an extraordinary amount for their service. And also the crazy thing is legal costs can be much more than the compensation by itself.

Whichever automobile insurance wants you'll have, you may just do a search for key terms including "car insurance claims" and "auto insurance claims" to first find out what you don't comprehend. Or simply just visit your car insurance specialist for advice.

The Rising Cost of Motor Insurance

ByGeorge McGonigal

Expert Author George McGonigal

If you've recently renewed your car insurance, and let's face it, you must have done within the last 12 months at least, then you will have noticed that your premium has gone up whether you are insuring for personal use or taking out business car insurance and even with an extra year's no-claims bonus. Despite this, insurers are claiming that they're still losing money. This is down to an increase number of fraudulent claims and the personal injury claim culture. According to one study, almost half the money you give to the insurance company goes on whiplash claims, fraud, legal fees and taxes. Whichever way you cut it, it is honest drivers who are footing the bill. Below are some of the main reasons:

Uninsured drivers

Recent statistics show that approximately one in 20 UK motorists is uninsured. Not only do these drivers cost honest drivers about £30 a year on their premium, but they are also far more likely to be involved in accidents, fraudulent claims and other criminal activities. The maximum fine for this offence is £1000, in theory. In practise, the fine is around £200, which is significantly lower than the average cost of insurance - you are likely to be fined more for not having a TV licence.

Personal Injury Lawyers

We've all seen the aggressive TV adverts offering no-win, no-fee services for any kind of accidents. These companies often represent those who have been involved in car crashes. In fact, it is estimated that these kind of claims have doubled in the last year - and the companies even run loyalty schemes to claimants who recommend their services to other family members. These claims now account for 10% of the premium a motorist pays to stay legal on the road.

"Whiplash" claims

Whiplash has become a favourite pseudo-injury among those committing insurance fraud. Because it is so difficult to find real physical evidence beyond the sufferer's pain, these claims have rocketed and now account for an eye-watering 20% of the insurance premium. What's more, it costs the NHS £18 per patient in consultation fees, coming to £8 million a year. All this is in contrast to official government statistics which shows that slight injuries in road accidents have actually fallen in recent years.

Fraud

Another way of claiming money off an insurance policy is to stage a car accident in order to claim compensation for the injuries incurred. This costs £44 on the average policy. These accidents begun in inner-city areas but have now spread all over the country - this is because premiums were increasing in areas where these "accidents" were common, so now the cars are insured in low-risk postcodes instead. It is surprisingly widespread, with an estimated 1 in 20 of drivers under 35 having taken part in such an incident.

Young Drivers

If you think that you have it bad with your years of no-claim bonuses, then spare a thought for those just starting out. The AA have said that the average premium for a new driver has jumped 51%. Young drivers who want business car insurance find it hard to find reasonably priced cover. The insurance companies admit that these increases are tough on young drivers, but the stats show that they cause proportionally more accidents than any other group. The answer would seem to be that the UK introduces some sort of graduated system, similar to one in place in Canada, which would stop young drivers driving at high risk times and therefore keeping their premiums down.

There's Never Been a Better Time to Get Great Motor Traders Insurance Deals

ByMartyn Piper

They say that there are only two certain things in life - death and taxes. There's not much we can do about death I'm afraid, and when the Grim Reaper comes to call you know the time is up. But when the tax-man comes to call, you also know that it's likely to cost you a pretty penny somewhere along the line.

It seems that good old HMRC, (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) are looking for any little areas where tax avoidance is rife; and the news is out, that our beloved tax-man is about to turn his attentions on to the motor trade, and the indoor and outdoor market trade. Of course the news hasn't been best received by either of these two economy sectors, who are asking embarrassing questions about why industry giants such as Vodafone have been able to reduce their tax bill from £6 billion to £1 billion, clearly implying that they feel they are being asked to subsidise the shortfall.

Car dealers already feel that they are under a lot of financial pressure due to the slowdown in the world economy. Stocks of new cars have risen dramatically as sales have slowed down, creating a glut of new cars on the market, which in turn has meant that prices have dropped. Of course lower prices mean lower profits, so car showroom owners are beginning feeling the pinch.

In real terms, the value for money that today's cars offer the end user, has risen quite dramatically. So, in an effort to safeguard their slice of the pie, many car manufacturers have upped their game, including more gadgetry than ever before in the sales price of a new car. In addition to this, special service deals, and zero % interest finance deals are being offered, which all goes to show the amount of pressure there is on the motor trader to increase the sales of new vehicles.

Whilst running costs remain high, and profits are being squeezed, businesses operating within the motor trade are looking for the best motor traders insurance deals that they can negotiate. However, it's not all doom and gloom. The recession has also hit insurance companies, and at this point in time, if you care to shop around online, you can come up with some pretty good deals.

Motor traders insurance is of course an essential for any business operating in this market sector. With the great deals that are now available, motor traders are beginning to realise that they can bring about a significant reduction to their operating costs if they can but secure best value for money deals.

But of course you have to be watchful, cheapest doesn't always mean best. As with anything in life, the most important thing is quality, because if you do not have the appropriate quality, be it in a new car, a television, or traders car insurance, if it is not fit for purpose, if it does not meet the quality expectations, then it is worth nothing. In insurance terms quality means content.

Martyn Piper is an expert on motor trade insurance and after working within the industry for many years he now writes and shares some of that wealth of knowledge on a variety of subjects like how to obtain the best motor traders insurance for your money.
