Reducing Motor Trade Insurance Costs

The motor trade has gone through some pretty turbulent times in the past few years due to the worldwide economic recession, but now there are signs that it is starting to regroup as the huge amount of surplus cars that was available has now been considerably lowered.

However there are still worrying things abroad, things that may affect all parties including the manufacturer, the car dealer, and the driver. It seems that our wonderful government are toying with the idea of changing the way we pay car tax, both at source when we buy the car, and later when we run the car. They have instigated a public consultation which at this point in time is still work in progress, and any conclusions are yet to be aired. In the meantime, several car manufacturers are outlining ideas for how they can help buyers to negotiate any potential increase.

VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) has already come under the limelight in recent years with engine size, fuel consumption, and emissions, being reviewed to create new bands of tax. Whilst this last change was in the main beneficial to everyone, (especially in terms of reducing emissions and helping to clean the environment), there are fears that the new consultation currently under-way may not be quite so helpful.

With the costs of fuel still being kept relatively high, despite reductions in the barrel price, it is feared that an already expensive cost of motoring, could be about to get even more expensive. If this happens, then it is likely that both the car sales and the car maintenance and repair sectors will be hit; this at a time when the motor industry is only just beginning to show signs of recovery.

So it's going to be time for everyone involved in the motor industry to begin tightening their belts once again, and that means reducing their operating costs to the minimum. Motor trade insurance is a substantial part of any motor traders operating costs and anything that can be done to lower this overhead will go straight to the bottom line, so it's an area that is likely to come under intense pressure in the coming months.

Insurance companies are acutely aware of the situation and are already aligning themselves to come up with some great offers. The online community of insurance companies is particularly active, and by visiting some of their websites you'll be able to see how proactive some of them are being. But motor traders are going to have to tread warily.

There are literally hundreds, even thousands, of online insurance companies all vying the business, which is great from a competition point of view, but does mean that some may be willing to cut corners in order to obtain orders. Motor traders must therefore do their research properly to ensure that the motor trade insurer they settle on offers the most comprehensive and best value motor trade insurance on the market.

So, if you are a motor trader who is looking to reduce your operating costs whilst at the same time maintaining or even improving your motor trade insurance policy, the time is right. Take action now by going online and seeking out the best deal while the opportunity still remains!

Affecting How Much Car Insurance Costs

Vehicle owners are often curious about the cost of automobile insurance, but policy prices usually fluctuate for many different reasons. The claims history, vehicle details, and personal information of individual motorists can all have a noticeable impact on coverage costs. This also means that prices are likely to be different for individual drivers. To answer the question of how much does car insurance cost for a specific motorist, vehicle owners should shop around and make quote comparisons.

Coverage costs are primarily based on a vehicle owner’s risk of filing a claim. To determine a motorist’s level of risk, insurers generally analyze extensive amounts of information that can all have a statistical impact on a driver’s likelihood of filing a claim. These details could include a person’s age, gender, marital status, address, level of education, and credit rating among many other particulars.

Additionally, the make, model, and year of an automobile, as well as a motorist’s desired level of coverage, can noticeably impact policy prices. Once a vehicle owner’s level of risk has been determined, insurers typically group motorists into specific categories, or markets. These categories include the preferred, standard, and nonstandard markets, with drivers in the riskier groups generally paying more for vehicle coverage.
Compare How Much Auto Insurance May Cost

Insurance costs are largely based on How companies interpret risk and the personal information of vehicle owners is frequently used in this process. Although many insurers generally target drivers in the preferred or standard market, there are some policy providers who can financially benefit from insuring riskier motorists. To benefit from these potential prices differences, motorists are encouraged to shop around and explore all of their options before making a purchase.

Comparing as many quotes as possible can be an effective way of determining how much coverage is going to cost, and which insurers can offer the lowest rates. Traditionally, to find this information, motorists would have to contact several companies individually for pricing information. However, vehicle owners can also utilize online tools to evaluate multiple sample rates at once.

Because the cost of vehicle coverage can easily fluctuate, frequently comparing estimates online can help motorists save money by providing opportunities for drivers to adjust their existing policies or switch insurers. Additionally, these resources can help to identify methods for reducing coverage costs. For example, motorists can try adjusting their desired level of coverage, or shop around for a company that can provide an applicable assortment of discounts.

The Hidden Costs of Car Insurance

ByTom Ando

Car insurance can be a costly expense especially since premiums have been on the rise. To cut insurance costs, it is important to shop around and to review your policy closely to determine if there are any hidden car insurance costs. Most of the time there are hidden fees that can be removed without affecting your coverage level. These are a few of the most common hidden car insurance costs:

Forgiveness Policy: No matter how well you drive, even the best and most careful drivers can have an accident. Determine whether your insurance company offers accident forgiveness. This means that your car insurance company will forgive the first accident that you report and your policy premiums will remain the same as if you never had the accident. Sometimes even one accident can raise premiums up to 50%. Having a forgiveness policy can prevent your car insurance premiums from going up.

Installment Fee: Installments are payment plan options that allow you to pay for your insurance policy in parts or all at once. Installments are monthly and you pay for a portion of your insurance coverage each month. However, you may be charged extra for this convenience. Most insurance companies offer lower premiums if you pay for your insurance policy up front.

Teen Driver: This is one of the most expensive additions to your insurance policy. Adding a teenage driver to your insurance policy will cost money. Make sure to add you teenager after they receive their license and not before, so that your insurance costs remain the same. Some insurance companies also offer occasional driver discounts. If your teen only drives on certain days, you may be able to save extra on your insurance policy.

Car Model: Some cars have higher insurance premiums than others. Insurance companies have a rating system that is based on various factors such as cost, safety, theft, and replacement price. If your car has a higher rating, it will most likely also have a higher insurance premium. If you are currently in the market for a new car, it may be a good idea to contact an insurance agent to inquire what cars have lower ratings that would give you a better deal on your car insurance costs.

Extras: Be mindful of any extra features on your car insurance policy that you may not need. Often, insurance policies come with roadside assistance, which may not be needed especially if you are a member of an auto club or have this assistance through another company. If you have a car that is not worth a lot of money, then do not purchase full coverage insurance. In case that your car is totaled, you will only receive the actual cash value of what your car is currently worth.

Be wary of car insurance hidden costs and make sure to shop around to receive the best possible car insurance rates.

Dropping Your Monthly Costs for Collision and Comprehensive Automobile Insurance CostsBy: Alston J. Balkcom

Collision and Comprehensive insurance are optional car insurance coverages. If you still have chattel mortgate or lien against your car, the contract you have with your lien holder may force you to carry this type of protection. If you have paid off your auto, you can decide to keep or drop these aspects of your policy. You can shrink your auto insurance premiums if you remove or lower these parts of your insurance policy's protection.

Collision insurance can compensate you for the cost to repair your vehicle when a covered car hits or is hit by another automobile. It can also pay for damages that occur when a covered auto hits a something other than a vehicle such as a road sign or a tree.

Comprehensive insurance is also known as "Other than Collision." This type of coverage pays for damages caused by flood, vandalism, contact with birds or animals, etc..

Since both collision insurance and comprehensive insurance pay for damage to your vehicle and not someone else's, you are allowed to decide whether or not to drop these from your policy. However, if your auto is leased, or you have a lien on your auto, you probably will not be able to do so because the actual owner of the car or the lien holder will want their interests protected.

The liability portion of your vehicle insurance policy is the primary portion of the policy that pays others for their damages. If you collide with another vehicle and you don't have collision insurance, that fact will not impact the amount of money the other party might get.

Why Should You Eliminate Collision Insurance?

The rates for this aspect of your automobile insurance coverage may be more than you want to pay. If your vehicle is totaled, the insurance company will only pay you its book value. At some point, you may feel that the potential return has diminished enough that thepremiums of the collision insurance is no longer justified by the potential payment you might get from your insurance company. If you own your auto free and clear you can ask your insurance company to drop or reduce the coverage.

You can reduce your collision coverage by reducing your coverage. This will shrink thepremiums and still give you some protection. Your lender or leaser may allow you to raise the deductible up to a specified limit.

Why Should You Drop Comprehensive Insurance?

The thinking behind cutting or reducing vehicle comprehensive insurance is the same as the logic associated with removing collision insurance. However, since the cost for comprehensive insurance is less than the cost of collision insurance, you may want to keep it even after you have dropped your collision coverage.

If your vehicle is leased or you have a lien on it, you may not be able to drop the coverage. However the leaser or lender may allow you to reduce the coverage by raising your deductible. This will reduce your rates, although not as much as completely eliminating the coverage would.

Most autos lose value when they get older. This reduces the amount of money that an insurance company is likely to pay to repair or replace a automobile. At some point you may feel that the amount of premium your auto's collision or comprehensive coverage adds to your automobile insurance bill is too much. Exactly when that point comes is determined by your personal comfort level with risk.

Removing comprehensive insurance coverage and/or collision coverage means that you take more risk. If your feel that you are unlikely to have an at fault accident since you drive safely you may feel that you can take this risk. If you garage your vehicle your car is perhaps less likely to be stolen or vandalized. If this is the case, you may want to take these risks as well.
